Employment Law

Today’s topic is: Oregon Employment Law Whether you are a business owner or HR professional, knowing the basic ins and outs of employment laws in Oregon is critical. Our presenter will take you on an interactive and general overview of Oregon’s wage and hour laws, implementing OSHA-compliant COVID-19 procedures, best practices when addressing complaints of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation, and more! Our expert presenter today is Christine Sargent. Christine is an associate at Littler Mendelson. As an up and coming litigator, Christine defends her clients in civil litigation suits involving discrimination, retaliation, and harassment claims. After learning to litigate at a regional firm where she worked closely on matters involving a broad range of civil litigation matters, Christine recently made the change to focus solely on employment law. Her disciplined and competitive work ethic is well-known among her peers. During law school, Christine interned for the Honorable Stacie Beckerman at the District of Oregon and clerked for the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, which required her to be in court every day for arraignments and pre-trial proceedings. Christine regularly contributes to legal publications such as OADC’s The Verdict and DRI’s monthly publication, For the Defense. Christine also serves in numerous leadership positions, including OADC (Defense Victories Editor) and the MBA (Young Lawyers Membership Committee Member).
